Lately, I became aware that my skin was not as moisturized, and I realized immediately that I haven’t had a morning glass of water in a long time! Let me tell you how important this glass of water in the morning can be.
Our lives depend on a wonderful water reserve system in the body. Water makes up about 75% of body weight, and it allows us to temporarily withstand dehydration. If we are dehydrated, the system distributes the reserved water to nourish the most important organs. The brain has the highest priority to receive water— while the brain is only 1/50 of the body’s weight, it requires 18% to 20% of the blood circulation and the same amount of water.
When the system redistributes water to the vital organs due to dehydration, the other organs will receive less water, and, if unresolved, the less-vital organs will release a signal to show their water metabolism imbalance. These signals act as symptoms, and the treatment for these symptoms is as simple as drinking water. However, we often don’t recognize these symptoms, and, when we do, we often give the body the wrong treatments. If left untreated, these symptoms become an illness.
For example, someone discovered that water can treat cardiovascular problems and stroke because water diluted the blood to prevent clotting and blockage. Water can also make the bones stronger and help with osteoporosis. Furthermore, because it carries oxygen to the cells and cancer cells are anaerobic, water may also help with leukemia and lymph cancer; additionally, water is a natural diuretic and may help with hypertension. For diabetes, it can help by increasing the amount of tryptophan. Water also helps create more natural sleeping patterns by assisting in the production of melatonin and may improve insomnia; as for aiding depression, water can create more serotonin naturally.
The Function of Water in Our Body
Water plays an essential role in the body:
- It creates energy.
- Water creates electric and magnetic energy.
- Structurally, it bonds the cells and cells’ organelles together.
- Water protects the DNA and RNA from damage, and it also helps to repair them.
- Water increases the immune function of bone marrow and may help to become an anti-cancer defense.
- It is the major menstruum of food, vitamins, and minerals.
- Water is used to transport all of the materials in our body.
- Water increases the oxygen-carrying rate of red blood cells and alveolus. When the water reaches the inside of the cell, it gives the cell more oxygen and takes the waste out of the cell.
- Water is an important component of synovial fluid which reduces pain in and lubricates the joints.
Evidently, it’s extremely important to stay hydrated to help the body maintain its functions.
How do you drink this “Morning Water?”
Have (at least) a 12oz glass of water in the morning. It is very important that you drink water and not tea, soft drinks, or coffee. Drink the water slowly: each time you bring the cup to your mouth to drink it, only take three small sips. Try to finish the 12 oz cup within 40 minutes, though, and afterwards, have another 12 oz glass. Continue the slow drinking throughout the morning until lunch. Two to three cups are recommended because they will add up to about 1 to 2 liters of water a day. Drinking warm water is recommended, but you can drink cold water or even put lemon slices in the water to make it more enticing. We recommend the slow drinking method because quickly drinking water makes more of the water go to your intestine; in comparison, slow drinking allows more of the water to go to your cells.
As we age, our sense of thirst is dulled. This is the reason why we have a tendency to lose the amount of water in our bodies and thus in our cells. The ideal water ratio between the inside and outside of cells should be 1:1; however, aging reduces it to about 0.8:1. Furthermore, the water reserve system in the body loses about 3 liters of water every 10 years. Thus, drinking more water enables our cells to function optimally.
Our body automatically redistributes the water when it is dehydrated. If this condition never changes, it becomes chronic dehydration, and some organs may be damaged, leading to chronic disease; specifically, asthma, allergies, and heartburn can all all signals of lack of water. Clearly, a glass of water every morning holds countless benefits for your health!
